Jaida was a beautiful, smart, compassionate, and athletic fourth grade student at Nathanael Greene Elementary School in Stanardsville, VA. On November 18, 2012, Jaida passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from Viral Myocarditis.
Viral Myocarditis silently and very aggressively destroyed Jaida’s heart. Our family was left heartbroken and wondering how and why something like this could happen. Jaida was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Although she only spent nine short years on this earth, she made an unparalleled and unforgettable impact on the lives of everyone she knew. Three agonizing weeks went by before the lab results came back from the medical examiner’s office. It was then that we learned about the devastating and underdiagnosed heart virus.
Jaida's joy was to serve God and to serve others. She was passionate about making the world a better place. One of her passions was donating school supplies to less fortunate students because she knew it would make them smile. What she didn't realize was the positive impact she made. She truly brought so much joy to so many children.
While we were only given a short time to spend with our precious Jaida, her compassion for others and unyielding love for her family will never be forgotten.
Jaida has established a permanent place in the hearts of those who knew her, and her kind memory is what gives us the strength and courage to keep moving forward, knowing that we will one day see each other again.
